An open frame casts shadows as part of the design. The Alvorum Ferro Sputnik Ceiling Light leaves its structure visible rather than hiding it behind a shade, so the fixture throws pattern across a ceiling as well as light into a room.

Ferro is mid-century geometry done in two finishes. Slim matte black rods cross at angles on a short central stem, each ending in a brushed gold lamp holder that carries a bare globe bulb. It mounts close to the ceiling rather than hanging on a chain, which makes it usable in rooms that cannot take a full drop. It works in mid-century, modern, industrial and eclectic interiors.
